Four roommates in college played Uno constantly. They started adding rules that they had picked up in random places to make the game more interesting. By the end of college, they had invented Spicy Uno and the game had spread.
Now, people all over the world play Spicy Uno. This inventive spin has revitalized a classic game. It's the best party game, vacation thriller or time filler. And for the first time, Spicy Uno has a website.
Stacking: When a Draw Two or Wild Draw Four is played, play the same type of card to add to the penalty and pass it down to the next player.
Jump in: Whenever a card is played, if you hold an identical card, you may play that card out of turn. Play then resumes to the next person after you, continuing in the same direction as the current direction of play. This is effectively a "skip". This can often result in some crazy chained Draw 2's!
0s: If you play a zero, you are allowed to swap your hand with someone else's! There aren't very many 0s in the game, but they're a great way to stop someone who is about to win.
6s: Whenever a 6 is played, everyone must rush to slap the played pile of cards. The last player to slap must draw a card from the top of the deck. So pay attention! 6s are incredibly common.
7s: Playing a 7 requires everyone to be silent, immediately! If anyone speaks or makes a sound like a grunt, they must draw a card. The silence is ended when the next 7 is played. If you need to yell "Uno!" during a silent period, raise a single finger instead.
Take from a friend: In regular Uno, if you don't have a card to play, you have to keep drawing from the deck until you get a card that is playable. In Spicy Uno, other players can offer you a card instead (facedown of course). They aren't required to offer you a playable card, so you have to decide whether to trust them or not! Be careful not to take a card from someone who is close to winning. This rules adds a dynamic of trust or mistrust that can play out over many games.
Instead of simply being given bragging rights for winning a 5 minute game that is soon forgotten, Spicy Uno ensures that your legacy lives on. The winner of a round of Spicy Uno gets to sign the card they won with in sharpie! As you play more and more, your once dull set of Uno cards becomes a history book of good times, frustrating losses and momentuous wins. This is more than just a card game. This is Spicy Uno.
Go to Amazon right now and purchase a new Uno deck so you can get started playing Spicy Uno. Buy two decks, you'll need it!
